Being Church

Building community

Being a community means looking after one another, that’s what a church should be about. Everyone is needed and valued and all have a unique part to play in order to maintain a healthy, vibrant and active presence.  Illogan is a great place to be. We want to bring people together inside and outside the church. Church should be the greatest community on earth, a place where people belong and want to belong. This is what we do.

Regular events

Sundays – Worship service and Kids’ clubs 10.30am
Praise and Prayer 7.00pm (first Sunday of the month)

Tuesdays – Early morning prayer 8.00am

Fridays – Coffee morning 10.30am – 12.00
Oasis Prayer Time 7.30pm

Saturdays – Spiritual Dance 10.00am – 12.00 (first Saturday of the month)

Groups

Everyone is invited to the mid-week discussion groups to follow up the theme in the Sunday talks and to explore how this teaching applies to everyday life. These are valuable spaces for discussion, prayer and studying the Bible. They provide the opportunity and space for people to really get to know and support each other. Opportunities to create more home based discussion groups in order to accommodate as many people as possible are always welcome.

Tuesday Afternoons

Open Doors Coffee morning runs every Friday between 10.30 and 12.00 at the church and volunteers are there to provide you with as much, tea, coffee toast and biscuits as you can take! The idea is simple, we want to give local people the opportunity to meet and have a chat, make new friends, and just get out the house for a few hours. It won’t cost you a penny.

The Exalt worship and dance group meets on the first Saturday of the month, 10.00 – 12.00. Anyone who loves to dance, move, express themselves creatively for the Lord and explore worship through mime, poetry, song and Scriptures is welcome. A wide range of Christian music genres from gospel, country, Celtic, contemporary rock, hip hop to ballads is included.

Ministries

Everything begins with prayer so we encourage and teach everyone to pray as part of their spiritual disciplines and to be part of prayer events whenever possible. There are plenty of opportunities to pray – we just need to be creative. Anyone can join in the weekly prayer meetings or make a request. Why not join us for our informal Praise and Prayer meetings every first Sunday of the month at 7.00pm. A time to share thoughts, testimonies, and scriptures all intertwined with worship and prayer.

We are very happy to make home visits for anyone who would like or needs one. Just let us know and some of our team members will arrange a visit and maybe bring a gift bag. Everybody thrives on genuine and practical encouragement, it builds people up and blesses.

Do you know someone who needs a visit or a little bit of encouragement? We can organise a small gift bag for you to take. People are genuinely blessed by knowing that someone cares, is thinking about them, and praying for them. We include a range of small items in our gift bags along with some words of encouragement.

Few of us go through life without needing some support in times of testing, dealing with emotions, or just relationships with people. This is when the simple act of drawing alongside a person can be most helpful. This is part of church and our pastoral team can help. They are there to pray, assist, encourage and help.
